Play Time

Our participation project Play Time works alongside groups to create their own work to present to other groups in the community. This project consists of:

The LOSING IT Educational Theatre programme delivered in school to one class of Year 6 pupils, consisting of play and follow-up materials. This programme enables pupils to safely address a number of difficult PSHCE issues, including community cohesion, domestic violence and abuse, bullying, alcohol misuse.

Pupils can then join an AFTER SCHOOL group, where they will work with the company’s actors for four sessions to create their own play, looking at real life issues of concern to and chosen by the pupils.

They then perform their play (supported by Leeds TiE's actors) to their parents and the rest of their class. This may involve one combined performance or two separate ones. The play will include or be followed by active audience participation.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT – At least one member of staff (teacher, teaching assistant, learning mentor) will be able to take an active part in the sessions, learn and practise transferable techniques to use drama to explore PSHCE issues.

We will provide a follow-up support session and work pack to enable the staff member/s to continue the After School Drama Group and/or use drama to deliver issue-based PSHCE work in school.

The project includes a pre-visit to school to agree structure, aims, and to ensure that the project is tailored to meet the specific needs of the school.
